How Stereologic works

A real-time model of your business operations.

Stereologic observes operational work across and inside applications, tasks and teams as it happens, and reconstructs it into a live, measurable model of how your operation works, why it behaves that way, and where change will create value.

The platform

Three capabilities, one real-time model.

Process-level evidence and detailed employee activity are not competing views of the same problem. They answer different questions, and Process Intelligence is where process mining and task mining are brought together into one model.

Process Intelligence is integrated process and task mining, sitting above the process level and the activity level. Process Mining gives a real-time map of business processes. Deep Task Mining gives the finest details of employee activities and the business data inside the applications. Both sit on a Security and Deployment enterprise layer built for enterprise review.
Process Mining is the real-time map of business processes. Deep Task Mining™ sees the finest details of employee activities and data. Process Intelligence integrates the two and explains why performance varies.

Deep Task Mining™ and, where event logs exist, Process Mining create the AI-Enabled Operating Model.

Process level

Process Mining

A real-time map of business processes. How work actually runs end to end, across systems, teams, locations and variants — built from observed work rather than from a log-extraction project.

Answers: where does the work actually go?

Explore Process Mining

Activity level

Deep Task Mining™

The finest details of employee activities and data. Not only which application was open and for how long, but what was being done inside it, to which business data, and against which case.

Answers: what work was actually accomplished?

Explore Deep Task Mining

Integrated

Process Intelligence

Integrated process and task mining. The two levels combined into one operational picture, and measured: timing, frequency, variation, bottlenecks, rework, productivity differences and root causes. This is the layer that explains why the operation performs the way it does, rather than reporting that it does.

Answers: why does performance vary, and what is it costing?

Where the three capabilities land

An AI-enabled operating model — scalable and insight-driven.

Deep Task Mining™ builds it. Where event logs exist and are usable, Process Mining extends it. The capabilities are not the point. This is: a working model of the operation, built from observed work — extended by system event data where that data is available — that the business keeps using after the engagement ends.

Deep Task Mining, extended by Process Mining where event logs exist. After a thirty-minute project setup: day one employees start to record, day two applications, screens and activities, day three the data dictionary, day four process cases, day five process maps and documentation, day six an AI-enabled operating model that is scalable and insight-driven. Deep Task Mining contributes observed employee work; Process Mining contributes system event data where that data is available.
Illustrative sequence for a defined scope. Actual duration depends on the scope agreed, the employees observed and the applications in use.
The operating model

Observe. Reconstruct. Understand. Act.

The platform describes what the capabilities are. This describes how the evidence progresses — and where it has to end up if the exercise is going to be worth anything.

Four stages: observe real operational work; reconstruct fragmented activity into cases, handoffs and variants; understand why the operation behaves as it does; act by changing, standardizing or automating the work and realizing the improvement.
Stages one to three produce the evidence. Stage four is where the operation changes.
  1. Observe

Capture work occurring across applications — including email, spreadsheets, desktop, legacy and custom environments — with non-intrusive, no-install desktop-recording software and no Administrator-level endpoint access, and without a source-system integration standing in front of the first evidence.

  2. Reconstruct

Connect activity across people, applications, interruptions, variations and handoffs into cases and end-to-end processes. Where a client-defined case identifier is available, that assembly is deterministic: the same recorded work produces the same model.

  3. Understand

Measure timing, frequency, effort, variation, bottlenecks, rework and productivity differences — and explain the causes behind them. This is the layer that separates “something is inefficient” from “here is why it is inefficient.”

  4. Act

Change the process, standardize it, remove unnecessary work, redesign it or automate it — then measure the operation again to confirm the improvement was realized. Process maps, SOPs, requirements and a measured baseline are the inputs to that change, not the end of the exercise.

What makes the evidence different

Application time is not the same as work accomplished.

Knowing that somebody spent half a day inside a claims application does not tell you whether they processed forty claims or one, approved or rejected them, got stuck, or accomplished anything useful at all. Deep Task Mining connects application activity to the business work being done.

Application usage shows hours in the claims application, screens opened and application switches. Deep Task Mining shows claims approved, claims rejected with the reason, claims re-opened after a correction and claims stalled waiting on a third party.
Application usage tells you where time was spent. Deep Task Mining™ explains what business work was performed during that time — so productivity, throughput and capacity can be measured.
Where Stereologic is different

System records are one layer. The operation is bigger than that.

System and process evidence, human activity, business activity inside applications, and the handoffs and interruptions between them add up to a more complete view of the operation than any one of them alone.

  • Across applicationsWeb, desktop, office, legacy and custom environments — including the spreadsheets and mailboxes that never write to a databaseEvidence covers the whole operation, not only the systems that happen to log well
  • No-install recordingNon-intrusive, no-install desktop-recording software and no Administrator-level endpoint access, and no change to the way people workDeployment does not depend on a desktop rollout or an endpoint change programme
  • No source-system integration to beginDiscovery starts without a connector build or an ETL projectThe first evidence does not wait behind an integration backlog
  • Scale across applications and employee populationsEnough observations across enough people to identify real patternsConclusions rest on how the operation behaves, not on a few idealized demonstrations
